The go-to completely wireless earbuds for many people are Apple’s AirPods (TWS). As a long-time user of AirPods, I can say with certainty that this is true for me. However, in recent years, rival brands, particularly regional ones, have begun to challenge Apple’s dominance. I have been avoiding these wireless earbuds that are incredibly cheap yet make a lot of promises but never deliver. As a result, when Mivi offered to send me a review unit of its DuoPods F50, I initially wasn’t sure if I should review them. However, once I learned that they only cost Rs 749 in doctordeals, I decided to do so.
I was aware that I had to use them. Read on to the very end of this review to learn more about the design and aesthetic, audio quality, and battery life.
Out of the box
The packaging for the Mivi DuoPods F50 is really simple. A micro USB to USB-C charging cable, a welcome letter from the co-founders, and a form that you may use to register your device and obtain a 1-year guarantee are all included with Mivi’s charging case and earphones. Four tiny indicator lights on the front of the circular charging case show the battery’s remaining capacity and if it is currently being charged. The DuoPods F50 has a beautiful appearance. Both have an open shape and a stem-like design, although the shorter stems make me think of the AirPods 3. They don’t fully enclose your ear canals like the rubber ear tips on AirPods Pro. Nevertheless, the fit is snug enough to withstand an e-rickshaw ride. The TWS earbuds are lightweight and have an IPX4 rating so you may use them when working out. The enclosure is also portable and light. You can’t expect much in terms of a high-quality structure for Rs 1,500 or less. Despite being inexpensive, the case is strong enough to withstand accidental falls.
Functions
With Bluetooth 5.1, pairing the DuoPods F50 earbuds with an iPhone or Android smartphone is incredibly quick and simple. To pair the earphones with your connected device, just remove them from the charging cradle. There are also several touch controls available for users. To play or pause music, double-press the right earbud. To take or end a call, double-press the right earbud. Double pressing the left earbud will enable your phone’s voice assistant as well. Additionally, I can adjust the level by simply pressing on the right bud, which saves me from constantly pulling my phone out of my pocket.
sound quality
Before I tell you how good or horrible the audio quality of the DuoPods F50 is, I need to be clear that people buy TWS for convenience rather than because they sound wonderful or have professional-grade audio quality. I have a generally positive impression of the DuoPods F50, although it does depend on what you are listening to. When I’m listening to “Mohabbat Zindagi” by Lucky Ali or “Kesariya” by Arijit Singh, I am getting good clarity. For people who enjoy more singing, these earbuds are ideal. Warm but does not particularly strong bass response.
making calls and Watching movies
To my astonishment, sound effects in video games don’t have an audible delay. It’s simple to watch YouTube videos, and participating in video calls is as simple. To the person on the other end, your voice comes across as clear and loud. When I was on a call, I also never lost a Bluetooth connection. Although the passive noise cancellation technology helps a little, these earbuds are suitable for everyday usage because they quickly pick up background sounds when you cross a road or walk along a sidewalk.
last thoughts
I wasn’t overly excited about these wireless earbuds before testing the DuoPods F50. However, after using them, I can confidently assert that these TWS earbuds are of a caliber to satisfy a sizable number of users. For Android users, I believe the DuoPods F50 is a better option because losing them won’t break the bank. The DuoPods F50 has a significant price advantage.
